Systems Development Is Not EasySystems consist of collections of entities that interact via relationships to achieve desired functionality within an environment. The development of systems requires the skillful application of effective processes in a team environment. Enterprises that do this work must be staffed by people who know what they are doing and can do it well while interacting and communicating with others because none of us can know the whole story. Who Do You Want Telling You About This Process? The knowledge possessed by Jeffrey O. Grady, ESEP and his ability to communicate it has been thoroughly tested by his years in aerospace as an engineer and manager, his subsequent work as a consultant, trainer, and adjunct professor, and through his nine published books in the field of systems engineering. The Essence of Systems DevelopmentMr. Grady’s books relate to a sound process consisting of first deriving essential characteristics for the problem to be solved through modeling with the resulting requirements captured in specifications, followed by a three-step synthesis (design, procurement, and manufacturing), and verification where we prove to what extent the design satisfies the driving requirements. All of this work must, of course, take place within a sound management infrastructure. And these are the four core courses. Systems Development Training Program
JOG System Engineering presents public courses, courses at universities, as well as for and at particular companies that contract for his services. All of the courses can be presented through distance learning in a short course or extended university format (2 to 3 hours/day once or twice a week for up to four months). The courses are organized into one or two day tutorials and workshops, three-day (quarter-length) short courses, and four or five day (semester-length) short courses. The course presentations can be adjusted to the client product line and preferred development process. Each course is provided with a student manual consisting of one of Mr. Grady’s books, in some cases supplemented by papers that are coordinated with the course, the presentation material, and access to supporting materials provided on this web site in Section 5. |
